FanWorks 2023 con schedule
Now that the FanWorks con schedule is live, let's check out this year's vidshows, panels, and events!
Con time is Eastern Standard Time.
Thursday
8:00PM | Discord Opens
The con Discord will open on Thursday night. Server invites will go out to registered attendees via the con dashboard (viewable when logged in).
The con dashboard is also where you can find vidshow information and streams, the panel schedule, and Zoom links! It's our virtual con hub, so make sure you're logged in for the weekend.
Thursday night will be a casual open with no scheduled programming, but we encourage dropping by if you can so that you can be sure your server invite works before the weekend starts! If you run into any difficulties getting in, email us at fanworkscon@gmail.com.
Friday
4:00 - 6:00 PM | Craft Together
Join us on Zoom for a casual afternoon craft together session! Whether you're looking to socialize or just want some company in the background as you write / craft / work, this is a low-key way to ease into the con weekend.
7:00 - 8:00 PM | Cocktail Hour
Bring along your cocktails – or teas, or sodas, or whatever you like – for a Friday evening con social!
Trelkez will be working on some Premieres-themed alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink recipes, and we'll be hanging out in the (virtual) con lobby to welcome folks as they arrive.
8:00 - 9:00 PM | Vidshow | Variations: It Surrounds You

A part-submitted, part-curated vidshow on the theme: "A house, a hotel, a car, a spaceship, a kitchen, an office, a battlefield, a forest, an ocean, a city, a galaxy – vids about places, settings, environments. You can focus on the setting itself, how people relate to it, how it brings together or divides a community, any aspect you want."
This show features vid premieres made for the theme!

Join us for a Zoom-based game of fannish Pictionary, with your host corbae.

Join us for a brief welcome to the con weekend! (Very brief.) We'll go over the con schedule, Discord guidelines, and introduce the con staff and server mods for the weekend.
12:00 - 1:00 PM | Panel | Sports Fans & Sports Fandom

From AO3 to the tailgate, we're here to talk about sports fannishness: points of entry (the fandom? The sport? A secret third thing?), where fanworks end and other types of works begin (what's the difference between a fanvid and a hype video? Is there one?), what happens when fans or redditors or pro team social media interns cross the streams, and more.

A relaxed-fit team-based trivia game about fandom and fandoms. Teams are chosen at random and sent to breakout rooms to answer thrilling questions. No prizes, just kudos. With your host, Milly!

The last few minutes before the end, the inescapable fall, and everything after.
Mystery Box is drawn from vidder submissions. The theme for the final vidshow, "Before & After," was chosen based on the pool of vids sent in.

6:00 PM - 6:30 PM | FanWorks Wrap-Up
Join us for a short closing panel to wrap up this year's virtual con. This is typically a pretty brief event, but it puts a nice cap on the weekend, so drop by and help us close out the con!
Monday
11:00PM | Discord Goes Read-Only
The con Discord server will go read-only on Monday night, so make sure you wrap up any conversations, leave any vid comments, etc. you want to by then!
The Discord will stay in read-only mode until Friday night, at which point it will close down and no longer be available to anyone but the safety team in archive mode.
